SPLIT
The second largest town in the Republic of Croatia and the largest Croatian town on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea is situated between the river Žrnovnica in the east and Jadran in the west. The town that offers shade of Marian woods on the western part of the peninsula, 15km of promenade along the sea and a Dalmatian song on the stone streets of the old town, located in one of the sunniest parts of the Mediterranean, is also known for its climate benefits, measurable through 2700 sunny hours a year. The city center is made up of the ancient Diocletian’s palace from the 4th century (under UNESCO protection since 1979), which is a unique example in the world. The holy patron of Split is Saint Dujam (Saint Duje), Bishop of Salona, a martyr from 304, and patrons are Holy Anastasia (Staš) and Blessed Rajneria (Arnir). The patron saint is especially honored by Our Lady of Pojasana.
